Living Ink at Lychee Bay

Project Description:

Dr Ng Ni Na Camellia’s project “Animation of Farewell at Lychee Bay” developed an animated short film that weaves together poetry, calligraphy, painting and music into a single visual narrative, grounded in close study of classical Chinese art theory and historical scrolls. They tested animation techniques to preserve the fluidity of ink brushstrokes, created software tools for poems to unfold alongside painted landscapes, and ran audience trials with students to refine clarity and engagement. From September 2025 to March 2026, the finished animation was screened at the Art Museum of CUHK and embedded in its General Education Programme, before moving in late March 2026 to the arrival hall of Hong Kong International Airport as a large-scale public artwork.
